Do I need a doctor’s referral to come to physiotherapy?
A referral from your doctor is not required to receive physiotherapy in British Columbia. However, some private insurance companies do require a doctor’s referral for extended health benefit reimbursement, so it is best to check with your provider before your first visit.

How many sessions are needed?
This varies greatly depending on the scope and severity of the condition you present with. After a detailed initial assessment, your physiotherapist will create a personalized treatment plan that is mutually agreed on.

What do I wear to my appointment?
Please come to your appointment in comfortable, loose clothing that doesn’t restrict movement. I also recommend wearing comfortable footwear such as a trainer, running or weightlifting shoe.

Can you direct bill to insurance companies/providers?
Yes, I currently bill to most extended health insurance providers. You can find the list of insurance providers that I direct bill to here.
The direct billing consent form is included in your intake form when booking your first appointment. Please take a moment to read it carefully and ensure your health insurance details are entered accurately so billing can be processed smoothly. Do you accept ICBC or WorkSafeBC Claims?
Yes, I offer WorkSafeBC Physiotherapy and ICBC Physiotherapy. Please note you must have funding approval to book these sessions.

How much education do physiotherapists have?
Regulators now require Canadian trained physiotherapists to have an undergraduate degree and a 2 year Master’s degree in Physiotherapy. We also have to pass rigorous National licensing examinations and are constantly staying up to date with new research through continuing education courses.
